Arkane is testing its GNSS anti-jamming solution at the JRC

In July 2025, Arkane reached a new milestone in the development of its advanced GNSS signal processing solutions (Galileo and GPS). 

The company has launched an initial test campaign at the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) in Italy to validate its anti-jamming technology for next-generation space application.

The JRC of the European Commission: a reference centre for scientific innovation

The Joint Research Centre (JRC) is the internal scientific service of the European Commission. Its mission is to provide independent scientific data, analysis and services to support the public policies of the European Union. The JRC carries out work in many areas, including the environment, cybersecurity, energy and satellite navigation.
 
The site of Ispra, in Italy, is one of the major JRC centres. It has state-of-the-art infrastructure for evaluating, testing and validating satellite navigation technologies, including specialized equipment for detecting and analyzing GNSS interference. It is in this context that Arkane conducted a first series of tests on its radio frequency interference protection technology.
 

 

Arkane in GNSS testing campaign at the JRC: a key step towards validation under real conditions

Our team took advantage of the summer to launch a first laboratory test campaign at the JRC, as part of the development of its anti-jamming GNSS solution adapted to the navigation of future space launchers.

 

Objectives of the current phase:

  • Conducting tests in the pipeline via a Spirent bench,
  • Acquisition of IF/RF signals using our datagrabber, then post-processing on FPGA via our proprietary algorithms,
  • Validation of the acquisition chain for the jammertests scheduled in September,
  • In parallel, characterization of our CRPA antenna (Controlled Reception Pattern Antenna) to prepare for tests in a realistic environment.

 

 

Next steps:

  • Real-time transition of the entire chain,
  • Radiated tests in an anechoic chamber, with real antennas, to simulate representative operational scenarios.

Thanks to our expertise in AI applied to the radio frequency signal, Arkane offers a new generation of embedded processing designed to enhance the resilience of navigation and communication systems.
