Machine Learning for signal processing: feedback on Arkane’s intervention at the CNES Technical and Digital Meetings

Arkane had the opportunity to participate in one of the highlights of the French space ecosystem: the CNES’s Rencontres Techniques et Numériques, dedicated to Machine Learning applications for signal processing. This event brought together experts, industry and researchers around the technological issues related to navigation systems, telecommunications and next-generation embedded architectures.

 

CRPA antenna and robust navigation: Arkane’s feedback

Fabien, an embedded signal processing engineer at Arkane, came in to share his expertise regarding our work on the CRPA (Controlled Reception Pattern Antenna) antennas. 
 
A specialist in these fields, Fabien presented how the optimization of our processes, combined with the advanced integration of machine learning models embedded on FPGAs, significantly improves robustness, the responsiveness and reliability of launcher navigation systems in highly constrained environments (jamming, interference, real-time constraints).
 

 

Embedded Machine Learning on FPGA: a decisive performance lever

 

One of the key points of the presentation focused on the integration of machine learning models embedded on FPGA. This approach takes advantage of both:

  • the flexibility and adaptability power of AI models,
  • real-time performance 

 

By jointly optimizing algorithmic processing and their hardware implementation, Arkane develops solutions capable of offering better responsiveness to disturbances, while respecting the strict constraints of critical embedded systems.

 

This mastery of embedded machine learning on FPGA is now a differentiating advantage for the operational deployment of AI solutions in space and defense.

A long-term partnership with the CNES

 
This event was also a privileged opportunity to share our feedback with the CNES ecosystem and highlight the work we have been carrying out in collaboration since the creation of Arkane in 2020.
 
We especially thank Stéphane Oriol and Joan Gomes for their support and their invitation to present our work, as well as all the organizers and participants for the quality of the exchanges and interventions.
